The number of healthcare workers has decreased over the last few years while the demand for healthcare professionals continues to increase, partly due to ‘baby boomers’ now reaching retirement age. The job outlook for healthcare employment professionals such as doctors, nurses, health care aides and others is expected to increase faster than average over the next several years as healthcare industries continue to expand and the population continues to grow and age. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there is a shortage of healthcare employment professionals in the nursing field and other healthcare occupations.
For individuals such as students choosing a career field or people considering a career change, this shortage in the healthcare field presents them with great career, healthcare employment opportunities. In an attempt to attract and keep healthcare employees, employers in the healthcare employment field are offering them incentives such as hiring bonuses, larger salaries, excellent job security, flexible schedules, more opportunities for advancement, and better benefits. For healthcare job seekers that are well qualified and have experience, they definitely have an advantage and endless opportunities in the healthcare employment market.
In today’s job market, there are a huge number of healthcare, employment career opportunities available in many healthcare fields. A career in nursing is a wonderful choice for people that want to work directly with injured or sick patients and be involved in their care and recovery. There are several different nursing categories such as a registered nurse or RN and licensed practical or vocational nurses. In healthcare employment, there is a very high demand for knowledgeable registered nurses. They are essential in work settings such as private and public hospitals; clinics; nursing homes; outpatient care centers; homes, temporary and private healthcare agencies; nursing homes; correctional facilities; schools; and doctor’s offices. Combining the human touch with new medical technology, the healthcare industry provides around-the-clock care to millions of people, making healthcare employment in great demand. Licensed vocational or licensed practical nurses care for the disabled, sick, convalescent, and injured patients under registered nurses or physicians direction. For people interested in entering a healthcare employment occupation, they require a sympathetic, caring nature, patience, excellent communication and decision-making skills, and work well as a team member.
